Special Needs Conferences 101: Autism conference in LA for parents and professionals

Dr. Kari Miller of the Los Angeles Examiner reported last week that there will be an autism focused conference being held at the Vista Del Mar Campus in Los Angeles.

The website provides a wonderful pdf on the event.

It focuses on innovation, intervention, and inspiration in autism. Barry Prizant and Stephen Shore are featured guest speakers at the event as well! Dr. Barry Prizant is recognized internationally for his extensive contributions in research and educational programming for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Here is a video of a father and his son, taking the advice of Barry Prizant that when children model speech (watch as his son observes himself on the video monitor), they are laying the showing a precursor to holding conversation.:

Autismasperger.net offers a wide variety of video, audio clips, and articles that demonstrate Stephen Shore's extensive involvement in the autism community. He was also involved in the Dan Marino Foundation, where he talks about his own personal journey on the autism spectrum.
