This post might possibly end my career as an advertiser because I am shunning selling products. But I am writing this post to take a stand. I only want to sell/advertise/promote causes that I firmly believe in. That I am passionate about. That encourage being with family and being active and being healthy and being outside. Away from the television. Away from the brands. Away from the profit seeker execs that sell kids to advertisers...

I love KEEN.
I am going to copy and paste the description straight from the website because it is perfectly written and makes my heart jump with joy!
KEEN is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. At each KEEN Session, a volunteer coach is matched with an athlete for a variety of activities including arts/craft, basketball, soccer, bowling, swimming, etc. KEEN fosters the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. To register an athlete or to volunteer please e-mail info@keenlosangeles.org.

Nicole Alvarado, who is amazing and on her way to become a first time full fledged teacher in Santa Barbara right this minute, told me about idealist.org. I nifty site for non profits that shares job postings and internship opportunities. I found KEEN. KEEN found me. I don't know how it happened but it makes me really happy because KEEN offers everything to kids that I believe kids need. Today's kids lack activity. They are glued to computers, television screens, and ipods, and other devices. They need to play to be active to be creative to become their own type of person to be able to contribute to society in a way that makes them happy and encourages others to be happy and healthy. KEEN does that.

KEEN also focuses on kids with mental and physical disabilities. I love this! These kids need our help. They do not deserve to feel outcasted, or left out of activities. These kids are blessings. Some of them barely made it, some of them were not supposed to be alive... but they are and they need people to play with them. They are inspirational and they are reminders about what is important in life. They need me!!!! I would absolutely love if Kiela could grow up around these kids and learn to not only accept them, but to be kind to them and help them and share with them and love them. Oh man I wish I wish I wish I wish!!!!

So. Her name is Leah Weiner. She is the executive director of KEEN. If she has google alerts she will read this post. I have her email. I am going to contact her. I'm gonna do it write after I burn the energy in my fingers onto this keyboard and into cuddlingchaos!!!!
Leah, I'm going to send you an email. If you get this first, here's my cover letter and resume. I hope we can work something out. I know non profits don't have a lot of money to pay people and I understand if you only want volunteers at the moment. I am still a student and just got a job at Starbucks so time is definitely an issue. I can work from home, I have a train pass... we can make it work! But I absolutely love your organization and I will do whatever it takes to become involved with you guys!

I'm just being honest because that's what we're allowed to do on blogs. Emails and cover letters are more formal and straight and to the point. But in blogs you're allowed to post whatever you want and write and write and write for days and days and days and misuse grammar and use run on sentences because that's the beauty behind blogging. It's raw and in real time and awesome!
